Dear Friends and Family
We've missed out on updating many of you on our lives over the last couple years. So, we'd love to take an opportunity to do just that! Where do we begin?!
Most of you probably know that we bought a foreclosed house in Maplewood, MN (Twin Cities) at the end of spring of 2008. From that time, we have put a lot of time, effort, and resources into remodeling our home. It has been a lot of hard work... and Brad has done most of it! He works hard and has done a beautiful job. See the attached pics. But after only 2 years in it, we are selling. A huge thank you to those who have helped us in our remodel efforts. You have given your time and energy to help us. We have apprieciated your work, encouragement, commaradier, and friendship. Many of you have given your insights, suggestions and wisdom as well. Thank you all for your support. Through many long days and nights working on the house and the conversations that have come out of that time, you have given us a glimpse of what community is. We are sad in some ways to leave our home, but we also look forward to what is ahead.
After 4 years with the construction company Brad has worked with, they no longer could really provide good work and reward their employees sufficiently. And coming up dry in the job searching in Minnesota, Brad accepted a position with National Oilwell Varco in Anchorage, AK. So as of January 30, he has been living in Anchorage with His sister and brother-in-law and family. Andrea will continue to live and work in the Twin Cities in Minnesota until arrangements can be made with her employment and the house. A tough decision to make to be separated for a time, but we believe this may be the only time in our lives where we can really pick up and move across the continent in an adventure such as this! We will take it and thrive in it!
As for Andrea, she has continued to work with Sports Authority in the cities. And after a promotion back in September 2008 to department management, she has since been transferred to manage a department in the highest volume Sports Authority in Minnesota. And hopefully in the move to Anchorage, a transfer to one of their Sports Authority's can be worked out.
It hasn't just been the two of us though! We also bought a lab puppy at the same time we bought the house. She was our most important accessory to our new home! She fit perfectly with the fully fenced in yard of 1/2 an acre. She is now almost 2 years and it's been fun to have a puppy around. She has so much energy. We've heard people say that having a dog is practice before having kids, we can see how that is. Training a dog has been a good lesson in applying discipline, for the dog and us!
Past and present things to celebrate in our lives are that Brad earned his Associate of Arts degree through Inver Hills Community College in the spring of 2009. He plans to continue on to finish a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Andrea's sister was recently engaged and a summer wedding will bring us back to Minnesota and Manitoba to visit and celebrate. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Minnesota, gaining new friends, staying close and in contact with friends and family from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Manitoba, as well as a trip to Seattle and Vancouver area. Thank you all for your friendship and support of us! We love you and will miss all of you when moving further away.
For those who would like to stay in contact with us, most of our info will stay the same. We look forward to staying in contact with everyone.
